Curriculum Champions, what an exciting prospect.  I am very excited to be part of this inovative idea to help transform the way teaching and learning happens at Highfield.

As I am an Associate member of staff you may be asking why am I part of the curriculum champions.  What on earth could I have to offer the curriculum?

Well my main reason for being part of this project is BSF.  Building Schools for the Future.  This is a fantastic oppotunity for everyone to get on board with the design of a new school that will help to educate 1,000's of children in the south of Blackpool.  How ofter does a project like this come along?  To be able to look at a new building and know that you played a part in its design is very powerful indeed.

The way the building is to be designed should enhance the future of education of the children that will come into our care over the next 50 or so years.

I want to instill my enthusiasm to the rest of the Curriculum Champions getting you to work with us on getting this building right.  This is your oppotunity, lets use this time to really understand the way the curriculum is moving forward and plan our new building to enhance it.

Linda

Thanks Linda - It has been interesting watching the news this week as BSF schools start to come online at the start of the term. I think we've toured 5 or 6 recently and seen many inovative ideas.

Please record here three things that you have seen that you would immediatly transfer to Highfield!

Tharee things that I would bring to Highfield now????????
1. Reduced movement around the building - what a waste of time moving 1130 students every hour around this building surely we can be more creative in our planning?

2. Try and get more involvement from the rest of the staff in the planning of the new school building, perhaps a whole school visit to one of the schools we hav visited?

3. Look at splitting our lunchtime. We have investigated this previously, but maybe some more ideas that could work?

I think a whole staff visit would be a valuable exercise for a couple of reasons. Firstly, there is so much to be gained from seeing how other schools do things- we have learnt so much and seen so many ideas, good and bad. Secondly, I think that 'seeing is believing' - visting a school that has gone through the process, talking to the staff and the pupils certainly helped me see BSF as a very real and very exciting prospect.
