Learning through Good Teaching

I said Learning

I would like to see developing from this weekend ways of sharing good practice in order to move the learning forward in creating independent learners. Linked with this is the opportunity to encourage staff to try out new ideas, to become motivated to want to develop new teaching skills which in turn will give our teachers’ confidence. I would like to look at ways in which we can embed PLATs – thinking skills in the classroom – again this should lead to moving learning forward so it is relevant and stimulating to our learners.

The learning taking place in our classrooms should be on top of the agenda.

Creativity has featured heavily in the Government's plans for a new curriculum, but how do we run with this idea and use creativity to revolutionise Highfield’s Learning and Teaching strategies?

Sometimes it is difficult to be very creative when teaching to the SATS in English - as these results reflect achievement of the school. I feel frustrated when we are told to personalise the curriculum for the child - yet there is only one test to reflect success at the end of it!

I agree and feel with do constrain the child in teaching to complete the ideal exam answer, rather than teaching to devlop the whole child and enabling them to achive skills for life.
